Homework

Homework Expectations
Written homework will be assigned on most nights.

Homework is usually NOT assigned on weekends unless there is a special project or there is work that a student has not completed in the allotted time in class.

Assigned homework ALWAYS reinforces something we are currently working on or something we’ve already covered.

Homework will usually consist of math and/or spelling.

Math Homework: A yellow-colored page that practices the same skills of the lesson that was taught in class on that day.  Students are directed to bring their “Problem Set” pages (white-colored) home each day to use as a model/guideline to help with completing homework. The yellow-colored homework page should be completed and returned to school the following day.

Spelling Homework: Each week students will be assigned 15 spelling words. These spelling words will be introduced to the class at the start of the week. Students will also be given a new (yellow) Spelling Packet to record the new word list on the front page. The Spelling Packet should be brought home the same day and will need to be completed and returned to school on Friday of the same week. The assignment is to choose and complete ANY 3 of the 4 spelling practice pages.  Students are allowed and may choose to turn in the Spelling Packet homework sooner if they would like.

Tecumseh Student Planner
Each student is expected to record what the assignment is in his or her planner. This is a daily routine and is always done together as a class.

The planner should be brought home each night and returned to school the next day. The planner does NOT require a signature from a parent.

The planner is also used to record other important information such as tests, quizzes, or other due dates and reminders.

*Students are always encouraged to be reading a book of their choice for at least 20 minutes each night (including weekends).
